Project by: Tedi Zurbo
Project Year: 2018
Location: Antalya, Türkiye
Description: This project takes place in the almost desolated site of the mega-event Expo Antalya 2016 and evaluates it's legacy, proposing a new life for this gigantic lot of around 2sqkm area. The design examines the effects of the current urban factors affecting the growth of the city of Antalya and aims to solve the problem created by the uncontrolled expansion of the city boundaries at the expense of the arable land as well as local agricultural produce, characteristic to the area. The proposal offers an agriculturally and farming friendly approach, becoming a research center and hub for the coexistence of a fast-growing Antalya with its roots in the past related to agriculture. The alienated post-event remains of the Expo merge with the surroundings, becoming a strategic point for the preservation and research of new and existing cultures.
